BRIEF

History of art is an important part of each culture and it has been one of the most challenging topics people face through their whole educational life. It is even hard for adults to memorize all the facts because of the vast history and the subjects. When it comes to children, this problem becomes harder to deal with. This situation makes the cultivation of art history awareness of children gain cultural significance. In such a digital age, where children are more likely to enjoy with e-learning by using technological devices, this project aims to become a fun online source to create interest on history of art for them.

RESEARCH

Effects of learning history of art in early ages are remarkable. Not only it helps children to feel a connection to the past, it also helps them to remain curious and become critical thinkers. Also, kids who are exposed to art in early ages have an appreciation for beauty and know there is great value in diversity. When it comes to typography, studies shown that sans serif fonts, specifically circular ones are more suitable in terms of legibility. Short and clear sentences with small paragraphs should also be preferred rather than long and complicated ones.

FUNCTION

This project is supported with integrating activities and it will make children experience Modern Art not only reading but also practicing it. Two friendly characters who narrate the website help children to have a clear knowledge about specific art movements with their inspiring artists and their artworks. Parents are not completely excluded from this website. They can follow their children’s progress on their profile and if they want they can do the projects together. This website also works with monthly subscriptions. Target audience can choose the plan which suits them best. There is also a shop that provides apparel for children and stationery items that are needed for the art projects.

CONCEPT

The main goal for this project is to create interest specifically in Modern Art for children. When compared with traditional style, it aims to make learning more fun and playful. Being online makes it more accessible compared to books and the friendly language makes it become more attractive to the target audience.
