Dreams are both mysterious and thrilling situations we all experience during sleep. We're still not able to understand them completely but it is believed that dreams are derived from our unconscious. This experience which, reveals the secrets of their mind, is loved by many. The need for escapism and the excitement dreams bring to people made me believe that the concept of dreams should be an experience to be recreated.
RESEARCH
I researched on theories of dreams by Freud and many others, this research also directed me towards psychoanaliysis, which helped me to understand the unconscious mind better. The dream aesthetic was the main point of my visual research.
VIEW THE MOODBOARDFUNCTION
The interactive nature of games is perfect to create an immersive dream experience. The player can walk in illogical spaces and interact with objects in a way that doesn’t make sense in real life. The beauty in it is that it is not real, therefore, it doesn’t have to make sense. The player can both enjoy the absurdity and the psychoanalytic aspect of the levels.
CONCEPT
This project aims to create an experience that is very absurd yet immersive for people who are interested in dreams. There are different emotions to feel during different scenes just like in dreams. The visual style is designed to create a dreamy atmosphere. Dream elements like absurdity and “out of nowhere” places are embedded in the game experience. This is a journey into one’s dream and unconscious, her past and her mind.
